  • Royal Residences
Far from being merely a display of their contents, these palaces house prestigious exhibitions, international events and are institutions of world standing...
every Royal Residence has its own character and features that will be a pleasure to discover.
In the heart of Turin, facing onto the splendid Piazza Castello, is Palazzo Reale, the city residence for the royal court designed by Castellamonte. Or Palazzo Madama which, fronted by the glorious facade by Filippo Juvarra, houses the Museum of Ancient Art which tells the two-thousand history of the city. A short distance away is Palazzo Carignano, one of baroque's most emblematic buildings, and then alongside the River Po there is Valentino Castle, the most appropriate context for accommodating the Faculty of Architecture annex of the famed Politecnico di Torino. Just outside Turin is Rivoli Castle in which there is one of Europe's most notable museums of Contemporary Art, while the Reggia di Venaria puts on many interesting international exhibitions in its rooms during the course of the year.

Of no less merit are the Palazzina di Caccia di Stupinigi (Stupinigi Hunting Lodge), currently closed for restoration, and Moncalieri Castle where the 1st Carabinieri Battalion “Piemonte” is based. An outstanding feature in the heart of Canavese is the impressive Castello Ducale di Agliè while, outside the province, the castles of Racconigi, Govone, Pollenzo and Casotto are important on the tourist trail.
