Turin, the city of flavours, is home to the Salone del Gusto. Organised every two years at the Lingotto by Slow Food, the Piedmont Regional Council and Turin Municipality, it is now one of the major international events in the food and wine sector. The food – in fact, the foods – as an expression of culture and identity: to be respected, defended and accentuated. In other words, attention to issues such as biodiversity and educating in food. The happening involves chefs, wine experts, restaurateurs, journalists and experts, and has acquired an ever increasing number of loyal followers and connoisseurs. It therefore comes as no surprise that, in 2003, the Salone del Gusto of Turin was officially acknowledged as an International Exhibition.
