GIRO D’ITALIA 2020. TAPPA 20 ALBA-SESTRIERE

NATURE & SPORT
The next to the last stage of the Giro starts from Alba and ends uphill in Sestriere, at an altitude of 2035m: a very long alpine stage with a height difference of 5000m.
The track appears ghastly: the cyclists will approach the Colle dell’Agnello (2744m) first, where Vincenzo Nibali - with the help of the late Michele Scarponi - built up his triumph in the 2016 Giro; immediately afterwards they will go over the border into France with the climb to the legendary Izoard (2360m), in a moon-like environment with the stony ground of the “Casse Deserte”, passing close to the stone in memory of Fausto Coppi and Luison Bobet; the cyclists will then descend towards Briançon to climb up the Montgenèvre, dive down into Cesana and attack the final climb towards Sestriere, which has reached its 20th presence in the Italian Giro.
