Figurative arts, architecture, Sacri Monti, music, gardens and enogastronomy, these are the pieces of a fairy tale journey through signs and styles which between 1680 and 1750 have left testimony of great beauty. A heritage that, in 2020, is revealed to visitors and residents through great exhibits, concert performances, guided tours, workshops, cultural moments and extraordinary openings.

Over 200 events in Turin and all over Piedmont which make up the fabric of “L’essenziale è Barocco” (“Essentially Baroque”), a project by the Piedmont Region, organised by VisitPiemonte and enriched thanks to the contribution of the Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo, by a body of cultural initiatives put forward by city and metropolitan area entities.

The program is additionally carried out through the collaboration of the City of Turin, the Consorzio delle Residenze Reali Sabaude and the Reggia di Venaria, with the support of FAI, the National Trust of Italy – Piedmont and Valle d’Aosta Delegations, the Fondazione Torino Musei (the Turin museum foundation) and the Associazione Abbonamento Musei (the museum ticket association), and the participation of associations, cultural institutions, public and private entities located all over the territory among which: the ATL-Agenzie Turistiche Locali (local tourism agencies), and the Associazioni delle Guide Turistiche Federagit (association of tour guides), and GIA (trade association of tour guides), the Authority of Archaeology Fine Arts and Landscape, Museum Entities and Foundations, musical associations, the Commissione regionale per i beni artistici culturali della Diocesi (the regional commission for artistic and cultural heritage of the Diocese), the trade associations: for hotel owners, business owners, tradesmen, industrialists: a truly widespread project with participation from the entire region.
