CASA DEGLI AFFRESCHI

Historical dwelling
It is one of the symbols of the strong bond that united Novalesa with the hill and the Moncenisio road: Among the few examples present in the Alpine arc: Bussoleno in the Susa Valley, Moncalieri in the Turin area, and Brunico in the Pusteria Valley. Characterized by a facade adorned with Savoy coats of arms and the princes of Europe such as England, France, Saluzzo, Brittany, it probably had the function of offering a guarantee of professionalism and shows the custom of hosting high-ranking characters.
The paintings on the facade are attributable to two distinct moments between the fourteenth and late fifteenth centuries. Inside, the House of frescoes, divided into two rooms, has tapestry decorations, among the few surviving of the secular buildings in the Susa Valley, with rhombus and wave motifs, but also red corolla floral spirals and a red fringed veil probably dating prior to the fourteenth century.
