CAPPELLA E ROMITORIO DI SAN GRATO

Church
Built on the hill of Paraj Auta, the church dates from the twelfth century and originally dedicated to St. John, in the ’500 he was dedicated to St. Grato, invoked in the pestilence. Originally the single nave was divided into two bays, then it was added another in the seventeenth century and later was built the bell tower. Next to the chapel it is preserved a building (hermitage) used until the early ’900 by a hermit, which was delegated the cleaning of the church, the cultivation of vines and care of the neighboring woods. The complex is outside with a baroque facade plastered and the rectangular apse in stone as the side walls. Inside they are preserved frescoes including, on the sides, the fifteenth-century work attributed to Giacomino, depicting St. Peter with the key of Paradise and St. Andrew with the homonymous cross.
