FATTORI. CAPOLAVORI E APERTURE SUL ’900

CULTURE & TRADITION
-
For the first time, the GAM hosts a major retrospective devoted to Giovanni Fattori’s work, one of the absolute masters of the Italian nineteenth century who was able to interpret in an original and innovative way both the themes of the great battles of the Risorgimento and the subjects related to the life of the fields and to the rural landscape.

The exhibition, which presents over 60 masterpieces by the artist, including large-format canvases, invaluable tablets and a selection of powerful sections, is divided into nine sections and covers a long chronological span from 1854 to 1894, from “Macchiaioli” (a group of Italian painters) research and from fundamental works of the sixties and seventies up to the canvases of the mature age, which reveal his acute and innovative look, capable of openings onto the forthcoming twentieth century.
