The Teatro Regio, from 1 to 29 October 2024, presents Manon Manon: a fascinating journey that, for the first time in Italy, will give life to a long ‘subjective’ dedicated to Manon Lescaut. The young protagonist of Abbot Prévost’s novel, whose success in the mid 18th century inspired no less than three composers: Daniel Auber who created Manon Lescaut in 1856, Jules Massenet who composed his Manon in 1884, and Giacomo Puccini who achieved his first great triumph with Manon Lescaut in 1893.
Three autonomous but complementary operas, three conductors, three performers for a unique protagonist, three different casts for an unprecedented ‘triptych’: twenty-one performances in one month, a true artistic and productive challenge capable of highlighting the Regio’s strength.
