02. CASTELLANIA - STAZZANO

Itinerary
Km 20,7 / Elevation Change - 232
The beautiful landscape, stretching as far as Monviso, will accompany you all along the way, opening onto the white gullies at Sant'Alosio. After the Sella di San Vito, you continue at a high altitude until Bastita (Municipality of Garbagna), where your eyes will be drawn to Mount Ronzone and to views of the Borbera valley.
The path then leads close to the ruins of the Castle and the small Church of San Martino at Sorli (Municipality of Borghetto di Borbera) and shortly afterwards you reach the Shrine of Madonna di Ca' del Bello: from here it is possible to descend towards Val Borbera where you can take a refreshing break in the waters of the stream.
The road continues through chestnut woods and old farmhouses until the Shrine of N.S. di Monte Spineto which offers hospitality at the time of the Festival of Sant'Anna. The route then descends towards Stazzano where there is the Civic Museum of Natural History: inside is the largest herbarium in the province of Alessandria, with 5,000 plant specimens.
