The Anticaprie rock wall has always been the busiest sector in the whole area, probably because of its ease of access, closeness to the city, and then also the glorious rocks and the good range of climbing routes. Unsurprisingly it was specifically on this wall that the rock-climbing history of the Caprie area began back in 1969. In April 2004, every inch of the rock face was checked and it became part of a larger project for enhancing the territory, including not just the paths, cycle routes, picnic areas but also the creation of a new Via Ferrata and the re-equipping for canyoning in the Sessi river.
Now there are some forty routes rising to 4 pitches, for a total of almost 90 rope lengths. The pegging is entirely of resin bolts with belay points and abseil points in situ. The climb is mainly up a vertical or leaning face, on small steps and reglette that have sometimes been cut. The rock is south facing and is in the midst of a chestnut wood, with the base of the routes always in the shade. This makes is usable nearly the whole year except when particularly hot. For the short climbs it is sufficient to have a 60m rope. For the descent from the routes made up of several stretches it is advisable to take the via ferrata, or the 4 abseils of 30m along the "Grazie di Tutto" route. N.B.: the difficulties shown are not definitive since this sector is practically new in several ways, so confirmation is awaited when we shall promptly update you.
