GIORGIO MORANDI. CAPOLAVORI DALLA COLLEZIONE DI FRANCESCO FEDERICO CERRUTI

CULTURE & TRADITION
-
The Cerruti Collection, the result of the passion and intelligence of Francesco Federico Cerruti, has been the museum’s new focal point since 2019: almost three hundred pieces of sculpture and pictorial works ranging from the Middle Ages to the contemporary world, and it includes ancient books, bindings, more than three hundred pieces of furniture and furnishings, including carpets and writing desks of famous cabinet makers and, in particular, masterpieces ranging from the works of Bernardo Daddi and Pontormo to those of Renoir, Modigliani, Kandinsky, Klee, Boccioni, Balla and Magritte to arrive at Bacon, Burri, Warhol, De Dominicis and Paolini. Giorgio Morandi’s five paintings point to the variety of pictorial languages of one of the most significant artists of the twentieth century and thus contradicting the criticism of its being monotonous, criticism that was often raised towards him.
