GIOVANNI MIGLIARA. VIAGGIO IN ITALIA

CULTURE & TRADITION
-
The Accorsi-Ometto Foundation pays tribute to another important Piedmontese painter of the nineteenth century: Giovanni Migliara (Alessandria 1785-Milano 1837). The exhibition highlights one of the central themes of the artist’s research: that of the journey, taken among cities and places of the Italian territory and brought back to life through the emblematic representation of monuments and landscapes identified in their peculiarity.

The exhibition includes oil paintings, watercolors, tempera paintings, drawings and fixès, sophisticated paintings on silk under glass. In addition to images of churches and city streets, often animated by lively characters, there are scenes that reflect historical episodes of the times.

There are numerous representations of conventual and monastic interiors of troubadour taste, of “Flemish” popular scenes and of the landscape “whims” of distant eighteenth-century ancestry, inspired by the Venezia of Canaletto and Guardi.
