Gran Paradiso National Park

The Gran Paradiso National Park, created in 1922 from a game reserve belonging to King Vittorio Emanuele II, is the oldest protected area in Italia: extending around the eponymous massif - the only “four-thousander” mountain entirely in Italia - it is a glorious mixture of larch and fir, valleys, lakes, rocks and glaciers where ibex, chamois, marmots, golden eagles and buzzards live.
