Banchette

Situated at the gates of Ivrea, Banchette is made up of an original nucleus, called Capoluogo, situated around the castle, built on a rocky spur overlooking the Dora river. Since the end of the 1950s there has been a strong urban expansion that has led to the construction of a new densely populated district called Borgonuovo, located south. It is the gateway to the UNESCO site of "Ivrea Città Industriale del XX Secolo" (Ivrea, Industrial City of the 20th Century), which was designated a World Heritage Site in 2018. The territory along the course of the river Dora, is made up of very fertile agricultural land where you can find the production with organic methods of Pignoletto Rosso del Canavese, an ancient variety of corn. The crops are managed by an association as part of provincial projects. Every year in October, the Sagra del Mais Rosso (Red Corn Festival) takes place.
