PELAGIO PALAGI A TORINO. MEMORIA E INVENZIONE NEL PALAZZO REALE

CULTURE & TRADITION
-
The eclectic Pelagio Palagi - draftsman, architect and painter - is the protagonist of the autumn exhibition of the Royal Museums, which explores the activity carried out in Torino since 1832 by the artist from Bologna as “Painter in charge of decorating the Royal Palaces” commissioned by King Carlo Alberto of Savoy, reaching the highest expression in the Royal Palace of Torino, which the architect rearranged for the Savoy family, giving the structure a new and monumental appearance, aligned with the new requirements linked to the great ambitions of the sovereign and the court ceremonial .
A work carried out also thanks to the collaboration of a team of painters (Francesco Gonin, Carlo Bellosio), sculptors and plasterers (Giuseppe Gaggini, Francesco Somaini, Diego Marielloni), cabinet makers (Gabriele Capello known as il Moncalvo), bronzers (companies Colla and Odetti, Manfredini and Viscardi).
