Giaveno

The name is said to date back to the words "Iam veni" - "I have arrived" - spoken, according to legend, by Hannibal as he passed through the Sangone and Susa valleys.

The municipality, in the Sangone Valley, has in fact very ancient origins, dating back to Roman times. Surrounded by luxuriant woods and waters, Giaveno is the capital of the mushroom celebrated every year during Fungo in Festa in October and in a small Civic Museum, Documentation Centre of the forest and the mushroom, a permanent reference point on mushrooms, the forest heritage and the mountain territory.
