The activity of the Mulassano firm began in the second half of the 1800s, with the opening of a bottle shop at 3 Via Nizza. The then owner, Amilcare Mulassano, also owned the renowned Distilleria Sacco, producer of the famous mint syrup. In 1907, the establishment was then moved to the more central Piazza Castello place that it has never left since. In the course of the early years the establishment was transformed into a Café. The café is of a special and precious ambience: small, cozy, cozy, made with expert craftsmanship. Mulassano's charm is closely linked to its thirty-one square meters of development: in them the bronze, wood and brass of its boiseries play and multiply through a skillful and calculated play of mirrors. The Buvette's exterior and interior decoration was conceived by engineer Antonio Vandone of Turin, who took care of the overall drawings and details, personally directing its execution in every part of the work. Engraved inside the Mulassano Café is a plaque that reads, "In 1926, Mrs. Angela Demichelis Nebiolo, invented the tramezzino" That's right; in this small establishment of just thirty-one square meters was invented that product which, every day, millions of Italians use for their lunches. The Nebiolo couple, returning from the United States, to rejuvenate the place invented, first as an accompaniment to the aperitif then as a quick lunch they created this snack that Gabriele D'annunzio called, a few years later, "tramezzino." Mulassano's tramezzino is among the most popular snacks, now as then, among the people of Turin. Among the more than thirty different flavors, the most original and popular are the famous lobster tramezzino, the truffle tramezzino, and the tramezzino with bagna cauda.
