PETRONAS LUBRICANTS INTERNATIONAL

PETRONAS Lubricants International (PLI) is the dedicated lubricants manufacturing and marketing division of PETRONAS, the national oil company of Malaysia. Established in 2008, it manufactures and markets a full range of high quality automotive and industrial lubricants to over 100 markets globally.

Its history, however, starts way back in 1912 in Torino, with the founding of OLIO FIAT. Throughout its history, the company has always aimed for excellence and this has led it to be a leader in the sector thanks to the development of important innovations. This excellence is also linked to Santena, where the PETRONAS Global Research & Technology Centre was inaugurated in 2018, home to state-of-the-art laboratories, facilities and equipment for the development of new fluid technologies.

Today, it is possible to retrace the company’s milestones and achievements by visiting the company’s Heritage Highlights Museum, where it is possible to relive the history of iconic lubricant brands, such as Paraflu and Selenia, the famous advertisements of the past in which the brands have featured, and the technical and motorsport partnerships in which it has always been actively involved.

Headquartered in Kuala Lumpur, PLI has marketing offices around the world, managed through regional offices in Kuala Lumpur, Turin, Belo Horizonte, Beijing, Chicago and Durban.
PETRONAS Lubricants International is the technical resource behind PETRONAS’ partnership with the Mercedes- AMG PETRONAS Formula 1 Team and is responsible for the design, development and supply of the Fluid Technology Solutions™, which include fuels, custom lubricants and transmission fluids for the Frecce d’Argento.

VISIT DESCRIPTION

The visit begins at the Global Research Centre in Santena opened in 2018, a centre of excellence in the world in the field of research on lubricants and functional fluids, where we visit the laboratories, the Mechanical Testing areas where products are tested on engines and the brand new "Heritage Highlights" museum space.

The visit continues in the production plant for a tour through the various production departments: mixing tower, tanks, filling system, logistics and shipping.
A special focus is placed on the company’s investment in research and development, technological innovation, and the sustainability policies implemented over the years and constantly evolving.
