CASTELLO MARCHESI ROMAGNANO

Castle
The ancient medieval Romagnano castle in the municipality of Virle Piemonte is located in the Piemonte countryside, approx. 20 km from Turin, and was partially restored at the beginning of the 18th century.
It takes its name from the most important family which owned it up to the mid-nineteenth century: the Marquis of Romagnano, who featured many great names such as Ludovico Romagnano, bishop of Turin, who was the protagonist of the famous eucharistic miracle of “corpus domini” in 1453.
In its current appearance, the castle was the summer residence of the Marquis and their guests: Massimo d’Azeglio stayed here many times, leaving letters of thanks and praise of his host, Marquis Cesare Romagnano, and of the local population.
The Manestorlo family who currently owns the castle, recounts that Prince Umberto of Savoia spent a night there because of a car breakdown during the journey between the Royal Castle of Racconigi and Turin.
