CULTURE & TRADITION

As if the world had no West proposes the creation of new landscapes through the investigation of hidden, yet metaphysically present, ecologies in Angola, deconstructing Western understandings of memory, history and land.
Rooted in ecofeminism and the research of Angolan anthropologist Augusto Zita, the project of Mónica de Miranda will produce a new body of work that looks at space and landscape photography through the lens of a non-Western philosophy. The aim is to create new landscapes capable of evoking metaphors, capturing the sublime, revealing conflicts and warning us about our impact on the environment.
