Tender Loving Care by Kalina Pulit is a movie about connection in the literal and metaphorical sense - daily interactions chart the sense of loneliness and concerns of one individual. Kalina, a single woman in her mid 30s living in London, struggles with feelings of isolation and decides to call up various customer care lines in search of connection.
Grasshopper Republic by Michele Sibiloni and Daniel McCabe examines the predicament of man versus nature. The equilibrium and cycle of nature drives the film’s narrative. On the opposite end, we see trappers brutally insert themselves into this natural environment. Working around the clock, getting burned by the lights and infected by other poisonous insects, they mow down anything in their path to capture the expensive treat.
A Tale of Two Seeds/Semantica’ by Wild Alchemy Lab: Sound and Silence in Latin America’s Andean Plains, a work by the creative studios Atractor and Semantica consisting of a sound installation and a short film, investigates the issues of food sovereignty, deforestation and biodiversity conservation through the story of soy monoculture and its expansion into the territories of South America. Semantics is a digital installation by Jemma Foster and Camilla French that uses different media and includes four short films dedicated to inter-species communication and non-linear linguistics in the post-Antropocene era.
