ITALO CREMONA, ARMI IMPROPRIE

CULTURE & TRADITION
-
Painter, writer and scenographer, an irregular intellectual in the artistic panorama of the 20th century, Italo Cremona held the position of professor of decoration (from 1946 to 1955) at the Accademia Albertina, leaving an indelible mark on the education of generations of artists and on the city’s cultural fabric itself. At the same time as the major retrospective exhibition at the GAM, the Accademia Albertina pays tribute to his figure through an exhibition dedicated entirely to his graphic production. A group of selected etchings and linocuts, covering a chronological span from 1931 to 1979, render his highly personal investigation in the field of engraving, which is just as significant and peculiar compared to his parallel and acknowledged pictorial activity.
