03. ROPPOLO - CAVAGLIA'

Itinerary
Km 2,9 / Elevation change - 79
After the Moncavallino region comes Cavaglià. At the centre of the town stands the impressive Parish Church of San Michele (late 18th century):inside there are 18th century rococo wooden choir stalls, a walnut pulpit by the Tempia brothers and the organ by Serassi of 1821. The route crosses the front of the Town Hall and runs near to Rondolino Castle, built in the early 1900s in medieval style. Also in this case, before leaving Cavaglià it is advisable to stock up on water since there will be no more fountains available until Santhià.
Just outside the town, near to the cemetery, by means of a short detour it is possible to visit the Shrine of Santa Maria del Babilone, built to an elliptical plan in about 1620 over the site of an existing church: topped by a dome with a lantern, it holds the Adoration of the Three Kings, a notable early 13th century group carved from wood.
