The tour of discovery of the castle culminates with a visit to the historic Scalone Library and the rich collection it houses.
The Library, which has preserved its 18th-century furnishings intact, still bears witness to the deep love of the Valperga family for books, an instrument of knowledge and an opportunity for recreation.
The collection, which has existed since at least the middle of the 17th century, was enriched in the second half of the 18th century thanks to international purchases by the viceroy Charles Francis II and his brother Tommaso Valperga, abbot of Caluso.
The variety and richness of the library’s holdings allow for various thematic itineraries: from Orientalism to botany, from travel to the decorations of the Castle, often taken from books, prints and engravings.
