New tour with @igerstorino walking around #iquartieriditorino! Let's walk along the Lungo Po together, skirting the river and then stopping in the shade of the wisteria, letting ourselves be enchanted by the infinite panorama or whizzing by the great drivers of yesterday and today:
Casa dei glicini
Lovers of Art Nouveau cannot miss a stop at Via Cosseria 9, at the 'House of Wisteria', which every spring offers an extraordinary floral display.
Borgo Medievale
We reach Valentino Park, the city's most famous and oldest public park, where the famous Borgo Medievale is located. But beware, not everyone knows that it is actually a reconstruction built for the Italian General Artistic and Industrial Exhibition of 1884!
Chiesa del Sacro Cuore di Maria
We continue our tour along the Lungo Po in the San Salvario district, where we find the iconic Church of the Sacred Heart of Mary, designed in neo-Gothic style by architect Carlo Ceppi in 1898 and rebuilt after the bombings of the 1950s.
MAUTO
If you walk south along the river, you can easily reach the Museo Nazionale dell'Automobile, one of the oldest car museums, which houses around 150 cars and was listed by The Times as one of the 50 most beautiful museums in the world.
Via Monferrato
Heading north again, we reach via Monferrato: the city's chicest street, surrounded by Art Nouveau buildings and populated by trendy clubs, boutiques, antique shops and design ateliers.
Villa della Regina
We reach Villa della Regina, the 17th century villa long intended as the residence of the Savoy sovereigns and now a UNESCO site, designed by architect Ascanio Vitozzi and later enlarged and enriched with details by architect Filippo Juvarra.
Monte dei Cappuccini
By reaching the belvedere of Monte dei Cappuccini, one can see the whole city from above.
Villa Scott
We reach the famous Villa Scott, an Art Nouveau residential building designed by Pietro Fenoglio in 1902, which became famous for being chosen by Dario Argento as the location for some scenes in the film 'Profondo rosso'.
Basilica di Superga
We end our visit with another of Torino's most impressive viewpoints and climb 672 metres to reach the Basilica di Superga, the imposing neo-Gothic building designed in 1715 by architect Filippo Juvarra.
